The most critical pollutants, NOx and PM, have been both reduced by approximately 60% since 1996. In the next few years, a 90% reduction of NOx and PM will be achieved.

Tier 4 regulations are being introduced in two phases, the interim phase goes into effect in 2011 and the final phase goes into effect in 2014.
