1947

pic_1947Commencement of series production of Steyr tractors with 180 model. The water-cooled two-cylinder diesel tractor produces 26 hp and is made according to a modular system together with the first Steyr diesel truck.

1949

hist_1949Downward extension of the product range: the 15 hp Steyr single-cylinder first sees the light of day.

1950

hist_1950Steyr tractors are equipped with a hydraulic hitch that can be retrofitted for already delivered machines. The Steyr agricultural system replaces the lacking standards for mounting implements at that time.

1952-1955

hist_1952In the year 1952 the program was extended by a 4-Cylinder machine. A 3-Cylinder variant was added 1955.

1960-1962

hist_1960Presentation of anniversary series. It implements numerous pioneering STEYR ideas: quick-running diesel engines, shuttle transmission with a clockwise and counterclockwise rotating ground PTO that can also be used for driving stationary equipment, an engine PTO with 540 and 1000 rpm, planetary rear axle and control hydraulics. Furthermore, all anniversary tractors are designed for front loader operation.

1964

hist_1964Now the first STEYR four-wheel drive tractor and STEYR pick-up trailers come on the market.

1966

hist_1966Ergonomic seats are installed as standard equipment.

From 1967 onward

hist_1967The Steyr Plus series is born with tested operator protection for the first time.

1976

hist_1967Extension of product range to 140 hp. The Steyr 1400 a is the first tractor with exhaust gas turbocharger, powershift transmission and power transmission system based on scientific principles. The 1400 models are characterized by central four-wheel drive, equally wide front and rear tyres and a sound-insulated cab.

1979

hist_1979The Plus series is replaced by the 80 series. All Steyr models from 48 to 140 hp are offered with platform cab.

1980

hist_1980Another spectacular product: the Steyr 8300 power unit. It represents a new mechanization system for large farms and universal machine application. Today the tractor produces 280 hp, is light and thus provides for soil protection and transmits the engine power to the implements via PTOs. The machine can be used in both travelling directions.

1982

hist_1982Steyr presents new platform tractors and the revolutionary Steyr four-wheel brake Optistop.

1983

hist_1983Use of modern narrow track and orchard tractors.

1986

hist_1986The larger models are now equipped with Steyr EHR and Steyr Informat. The EHR is the only fully electronic hitch control system with proportional control and auxiliary valves that can be controlled electromagnetically while the Informat is an operator information system that reduces fuel consumption by up to 20% and also permits a time-saving mode of operation.

1987

hist_1987Steyr puts a tractor on the market that consumes less than 200 g/kWh for the first time. The success is attributable to the new HPCE combustion process.

1988

hist_1988The second generation of the electronic operator information system also automatically switches on the powershift transmission group. Furthermore, a transmission modification makes it possible to use all large tractors as genuine forward-reverse tractors, too.

1989

hist_1989As a result of many years of testing, all Steyr tractors are now built with an RME-suitable version as a standard feature.

1990

hist_1990For the autumn trade fairs Steyr provides the comfort series with extensive noise reduction features; the Steyr whisper tractors are born.

1992

hist_1992Steyr replaces the platform tractors with new compact tractors, the 900 series; it is characterized by high PTO output and a high degree of comfort, suitability for operation on slopes and a favourable cost-benefit ratio.

1993

hist_1993Presentation of 9000 series (new large tractors and new 4-cylinder machines). The Steyr 8300 power unit is further developed into the Steyr Powertrac (320 hp) forward-reverse tractor.

1994

hist_1994Four-speed PTO for the first time with speeds of 390, 540, 750 and 1000 rpm, ideal for cutter loaders, etc. Introduction of Steyr Multitrac series, tractors with optimized front implement mounting facility, for the first time with front hitch mounted on travelling axle and EGE (electronic implement load control).

1995

hist_1995Extension of M-Trac series and closing of product range gap of the BR 9000 between 100 and 150 hp.

1999

hist_1999The engine and the continuously variable transmission are automatically regulated according to the load via a CAN bus system and easily controlled with the Multicontroller II or the accelerator pedal (parallel operation).

2003

hist_2003The new generation of CVT tractors feature the latest electronically controlled Steyr engines ranging from 137 to 192 hp(cv) (101 to 141 kW). To minimise operator interventions Steyr CVT offers Easy Tronic, up to 30 end-of-row related functions can be stored and recalled.

2004

hist_2004Kompakt Series extends the Steyr range in hp-segment from 59 to 95 hp.

2006

hist_2006Stepless CVT with additional horsepower (137-196 hp), they are simple to use and equipped with low emission engines.

2007

hist_2007STEYR celebrates it’s 60’s anniversary and launches the 9000MT series with latest technic, new design, higher comfort and Powershuttle.

2008

hist_2008One of the most successful Steyr-tractor series, the Kompakt models gets new low emission engines.

2009

hist_2009New CVT range, with 3 models in the hp-segment between 197 and 224 hp. They get a new surround-vision cab with latest Multicontroller armrest and DKT – double clutch technology.
