Paolo Castagna - New to CNH Austria´s Executive

With effect from 1 June Dr Paolo Castagna took up position alongside

Hans-Jochen Keßler on the CNH Austria´s executive team in the Finance

department. He is responsible for the finance and reporting of the company.

Castagna is 37 years old and hails from Turin. He speaks perfect German and

has a wide spectrum of international experience, with the German-speaking

region having played an important role in his career. With a degree in

business management, Castagna gained his first experience during his early

training days at Fiat in Turin. He then joined Iveco-Magirus in Ulm in

1988 and during the following years covered various positions as controller,

treasurer and then project developer within the Fiat group in Germany. From

1994 onwards, he worked for Fiat Deutschland GmbH in Munich, the financial

hub of the Italian group for Germany, Austria and Czechnia. In 1996 he took

up the role of Managing Director . From the beginning of 1998 Castagna was

the Finance Responsible for Fiat entities during the development of a total

of seven greenfield projects in India; he also set up a treasury centre and

built the necessary relationships with the banks. Last stop before his

appointment to CNH Austria was in Chicago, where he was assistant treasurer

responsible worldwide for banking relations, cash management and

refinancing. From hereon in, he will be the finance manager responsible for

Austrian and German CNH entities.

So many chances

"There are no problems, only chances", is the core slogan in Castagna´s

management philosophy. He is equally positive and confident about the

location of St Valentine, rich in tradition and firmly anchored in the CNH

organisation. The plant is well managed and efficient. The work of the

recent years is already bearing results. "Now we´ve got the task of

developping further our strengths".

The new CNH Austria Managing Director has high regard for the combination

of flexibility and productivity of CNH employees in Austria. They have a way

of creating a special quality by combining professionalism and the company´s

specific values with their own expectations. "One of St. Valentine´ region

great strengths is its Know How in the production process in manufacturing

industry".

Castagna believes his central function is to reinforce the international

synergy effects, typical characteristic of CNH group. The plant at St

Valentine will profit from CNH role, as the largest agricultural

manufacturer in the world, leveraging its international Know How. Focussing

on customer needs is one of the key requirements in the ever increasingly

competitive worldwide tractor market, Castagna feels. "There´s always

something to improve. The flexibility to constantly offer the customer the

right product, along with innovation and an international focus - that´s the

challenge".
